***EXCLUSIVE*** ***MUST CREDIT COMPLETECOLORADO.COM*** Share July 6, 2011 A document originating from the Michael Hancock campaign shows the campaign received time-sensitive information from the Denver Post days after CompleteColorado.com broke the initial story that sources and documents linked the Mayor-elect to a Denver escort service. Multiple news reports indirectly suggest that after the initial story broke, the Hancock team's first goal was to suppress any story duplication by other media outlets, at least until after the final vote count on Tuesday, June 7. Don't think there is enough. As of publication on July 6, the author of the note has not been verified. Greg Moore is the editor of the Denver Post, who recently authored an editorial defending the paper's coverage, and sometimes non-coverage, of the Hancock story. Churchill's is a cigar bar in the Brown Palace Hotel. Moore told CompleteColorado.com, "I would never promise anyone that we are or are not going to do a story. This was one on which we were working all angles." Moore went on to say, "a number of people had asked me about whether we were going to publish a story simply because (CompleteColorado.com) had put the allegation in the public area and everyone who asked was told my answer was no. We were continuing to report." Whether Moore considered the relay of information to the Hancock campaign significant or not, it's clear, from the simple creation of the note itself, that the information was useful and significant to campaign insiders. Another item from within the Hancock campaign is a lengthy to-do list from a staffer, mentioning, "Ask Ev about legal fund." ![]() CompleteColorado.com requested comment from both Evan Dreyer and Amber Miller of the Hancock campaign, but could not be reached as of publication. Specifically, Complete Colorado asked Mr. Dreyer if the campaign was considering, or in-fact creating, a legal fund. Additionally, Complete Colorado asked Mr. Dreyer to confirm or deny rumors that Mr. Hancock had retained a criminal defense attorney. ***END OF REPORT*** |
