DENVER – In a complete reversal of a previous endorsement, President Donald Trump today announced on his social media platform Truth Social that he is now going to back 3rd Congressional District Rep. Jeff Hurd for re-election, and give former Colorado Republican Vice Chair Hope Scheppleman, who he previously endorsed for the seat, a job in his administration.
Calling Colorado a “radical left state,” Trump said he met with Scheppleman and her husband to “discuss various opportunities to serve our Country (sic) in a different capacity than her current run for the United States Congress.”
Trump did not say what capacity that would be, but it comes as no surprise, since Scheppleman, a navy veteran, was former Colorado GOP Chairman Dave Williams’ right hand. Williams is currently acting as senior advisor for the

International Trade Association, a job Trump gave Williams after he was chased out of GOP leadership in Colorado.
Scheppleman, who was well-known for name calling while serving in the state GOP, previously announced her intent to run against Hurd calling him “fake conservative puppet master.” She immediately earned Trump’s endorsement.
Trump said in his post that Scheppleman is a “loyal supporter” of his “Make America Great Again movement.”
“We decided that Congressman Jeff Hurd, of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, should in no way, shape, or form, be impeded from winning the District in that the Democrat alternative is a DISASTER for our Country,” Trump said in his post, continuing that he fully supports Hurd’s re-election to the House of Representatives.
In a post on X, Hurd express his gratitude for Trump’s support, adding: “The President and I share the same goals: securing the border, American energy dominance, and helping working families.”
