Polis’ history of being soft on crime and diverting funds away from police and toward useless social programs is exactly in line with “Defund the Police.”
Dr. Douglas’ idea of the balance between safety and freedom was the only valid path forward and he would enforce it even if it tore TCHD apart – which it did.
COVID is nature in one of its most brutal forms. Our reaction to COVID is mankind in one of our most irrational forms.
Governor Polis would maintain his state of emergency through the summer of 2020, never seriously considering the trade-offs involved – a far cry from the deliberative policy process one would hope our government would undertake when enacting such widespread and oppressive orders.
In the end, it is probable that the response to the coronavirus is responsible for at least a third of the excess deaths the U.S. has experienced over the past few months.
Most all of us are going to get coronavirus eventually, so why destroy our economy to delay the inevitable when the delay itself means higher risk for the vulnerable people?
The Governor’s actions clearly indicate that he is planning on suppressing infections until a vaccine is widely available in 12 to 24 months (or longer). This means he is likely planning for us to be at some significant level of mitigation and/or lockdown for the next year or two
